Christopher Charles Frye, Jr. was born in Richmond, VA. At age 11, he and his family relocated to New Castle, PA where Chris’s childhood and family financial struggles continued.
His mother, also a Social Worker, spent much of Chris’s childhood as a single parent of 4 children who lived by faith while teaching her children Christian principles. The uphill battles she faced, often not being financially secure, caused tremendous stress in their household. However, through all the struggles his mother remained optimistic, empowering her children to grow and succeed by telling them “you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.” Today, Chris credits his success to his family’s values and team-oriented approach in dealing with the difficulties of his upbringing. He is grateful that he grew up in a home that valued faith, integrity, responsibility and service to others.
Today, Chris is a husband to Danielle Young-Frye and a father of 3 beautiful children; DaJaun, Damarian and Dania. Chris has a Masters’ degree in Social Work with a concentration in Community Organizing and Social Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. During his tenure in Pittsburgh Chris immersed himself in opportunities to study organizational and neighborhood development. He conducted walk-about studies in East Liberty and Larimer neighborhoods. Chris worked for the United States Probation and Pretrial Services reentry program. The nature of his work in Pittsburgh allowed him to connect with local businesses and build trusting relationships to get ex-offenders jobs.
Chris recently left his employ with Lawrence County Social Services Inc., where he managed four grant programs through which he and his team worked to help clients reach self-sufficiency on several plains on a daily basis. Chris serves on the New Castle YMCA Board of Directors and is a graduate of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lawrence County Program.
