City Council is the governing body that implements legislation recommended by its members or suggested by the administration. Laws are created by ordinance introduced by a member of council and passed by a majority of its members. Council may also act by adopting a resolution. City Council is assisted by a City Clerk and a Deputy.
City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located on the second floor of City Building, 230 N. Jefferson Street, New Castle, PA. Council may, however, upon a majority vote of the whole Council, reschedule such regular meetings at its convenience.
Caucus (workshop) Meetings are held on the Tuesday immediately preceding the regularly scheduled Thursday council meetings, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the City Building.
