PUBLIC NOTICE

The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Financial Recovery Coordinator for the City of New Castle (City) under the Municipalities Financial Recovery Act, Act 47 of 1987, as amended (Act 47), hereby gives notice that it has completed an Exit Report (Report) recommending that the City’s status as a financially distressed municipality be rescinded. The Report has been filed with the City Clerk and a copy is available for public inspection commencing on October 9, 2023, at the City Clerk’s Offices, 230 North Jefferson Street, New Castle, Pennsylvania, 16101, during normal business hours, and on the City’s website at newcastlepa.org. The Report reviews the City’s financial achievements since 2007, and the Coordinator has determined that the City meets the criteria for having its status as a financially distressed municipality under Act 47 rescinded. A public meeting to receive comments on the Report will be held commencing at 5:00 pm on October 17 at the City of New Castle’s City Council Chambers, 230 North Jefferson Street, New Castle, Pennsylvania, 16101.
