In accordance with Governor Tom Wolf’s “Statewide Shutdown” of non-essential government offices and non-essential business activity I, Mayor Chris Frye, Jr am calling for adherence to the same 2-week restrictions in the City of New Castle.

Essential businesses are as follows; grocery stores, banks, gas stations, big box stores, day cares, pharmacies and hardware stores, or stores that sell a range of consumer goods. Essential government services include police, fire, public works and administration.

Restaurants and bars are permitted to stay open to provide delivery and carry-out services only. No dine in services are permitted.

All of this is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and I appreciate your cooperation. This will be hard on everyone, especially small businesses. My administration will keep you updated as this emergency develops.

I assure you that my directives are coming from medical professionals, state and federal officials’ to ensure that we handle this pandemic as efficiently and effectively as possible. If we all work together, we will get through this.
