City-wide Clean-up

The City of New Castle announces its first clean-up program in 12 years. We are implementing this program to provide for a clean and healthy environment.

To participate in the clean-up program, you must be a resident of the City of New Castle. The items must be placed in front of your house, similar to the garbage (blue bag) collection. Commercial and local residents who contract with private refuse collectors WILL NOT be eligible to participate in the clean-up program ... NO EXCEPTIONS!

The clean-up program will be divided into two phases. Phase I will begin on Monday, April 9, 2012 and will run through Friday, April 20, 2012. Phase II will begin on Monday, April 23, 2012 and will run through Friday, May 4, 2012.

City employees will continue to pick up your garbage from Monday through Thursday, and recyclables on Friday. There is no change in this service. Blue bags will continue to be used for weekly garbage.

Under the clean-up program, Phase I and Phase II approved items will follow the same pick-up schedule as the weekly garbage pick-up. For example, if you put your garbage out Sunday night for Monday morning pick-up, this will be the same day you put your approved items out for Phase I and Phase II clean-up.

City employees are NOT permitted to enter your house to assist in carrying out approved items to be disposed of.
