City Council is the governing body that implements legislation recommended by its members or suggested by the administration. Laws are created by
ordinance introduced by a member of council and passed by a majority of its members. Council may also act by adopting a resolution. City Council is assisted by a City Clerk and a Deputy.
City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, except the months of June, July and August when the meetings are held on the
fourth Thursdays only, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located on the second floor of City Building, 230 N. Jefferson Street, New Castle, PA. Council may, however, upon a majority vote of the
whole Council, reschedule such regular meetings at its convenience.
Caucus (workshop) Meetings are held on the Tuesday immediately preceding the regularly scheduled Thursday council meetings, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council
Chambers of the City Building.
