Public Library

The New Castle Public Library is located in downtown New Castle.  In addition to serving as the headquarters for the Lawrence County Federated Library System, the library also serves as a District Center Library for a four county area (Butler County, Armstrong County, Mercer County, and Lawrence County).

Contained within the library's walls, and on its shelves, is an extensive genealogy department which includes local and state family histories, as well as the Pennsylvania Census Index from 1790 - 1910.

The New Castle Public Library offers a variety of materials and programs for all age groups.  Books By Mail, and the Outreach book delivery provide library services to those no longer able to visit their local library.  The children's department offers story hours for children ages 3 through 5.

Free access to the Internet is available to library users on computers located throughout the building.
